Aboriginal People to Benefit from ActNow Funding

March 21, 2007
The Government of British Columbia has announced $6 million in funding to improve the health of aboriginal people. The funding is being provided to UNBC and its National Collaborating Centre on Aboriginal Health (NCCAH).
The NCCAH was created by the Government of Canada in 2005 to focus research and programming on reducing the health inequities that currently exist for aboriginal people across Canada.
The funding is being provided through ActNow, a Government initiative aimed at improving the health of all British Columbians by promoting active lifestyles and healthy eating. The funding announced today will support programs specifically for aboriginal people, who face a shorter lifespan than the BC average.
