New Terrace Campus Hosts Information Session for Prospective Students

January 31, 2007
The University of Northern British Columbia’s new campus in Terrace will be hosting the most comprehensive information session ever hosted in the Northwest. On February 12, any local residents interested in university offerings will be welcome to visit the campus and meet with a number of UNBC representatives, including President, Don Cozzetto.

“We’re so proud of our new campus and we’re excited to show it off to the community,” says Judith Lapadat, Chair of UNBC’s operations in the Northwest.

This fall, UNBC will offer the following programs in the Northwest region:
•    Bachelor and Master of Social Work
•    Bachelor and Master of Education
•    Bachelor of Nursing
•    Bachelor of Arts (minors in Anthropology, English, Geography, Environmental Studies, and English)
•    Aboriginal Teacher Education Bridging program
•    Education Diploma in a First Nations Language & Culture
•    Certificate or diploma in First Nations Studies

“We’ve been particularly responsive to local residents who are interested in professional programs, providing them with local opportunities to become a teacher, nurse, or social worker,” says UNBC President, Don Cozzetto. “I’m looking forward to meeting students in Terrace.”

“This fall, we’ll be offering more programming in this region than ever before,” adds Dr. Lapadat. “But this info session won’t just be for students interested in local options. There will also be representatives from Prince George-based programs such as the Northern Medical Program, the MBA, and Continuing Studies. This event will be of interest to high school students who are exploring their post-graduation options, but increasingly, university education is being sought by students of all ages and backgrounds.”

The new UNBC campus is located at 4837 Keith Avenue. The information session for prospective students will be held between noon – 2pm and from 7 – 9pm on Monday, February 12.
