Convocation 2006

Approximately 700 students will be graduating from the University ofNorthern British Columbia later this week during the annual Convocationceremony. Some highlights:
• Honorary degrees will be presented to Prince Georgeauthor Barry McKinnon and nationally renowned scientist ThomasBrzustowski (pronounced Brew-STOFF-ski). In addition, Physics professorAhmed Hussein will be named a professor emeritus in recognition of hisdistinguished 30-year career.
• Governor-General awards for top academicachievement will be presented to Amy Hayduk of the Nass Valley (northof Terrace) and Glen Goodvin of Prince George. Amy will be receiving abachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Glen willgraduate with a Master of Science majoring in Physics.
• For the first time, this Convocation ceremony willinclude students graduating with Master of Business Administrationdegrees. 17 students have completed the program, which began in 2004.In addition, the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program in Quesnel isproducing its first 15 graduates.
