With the number and value of student awards reaching a new high this year, a large number of students will be participating in the annual student awards ceremonies tonight and next week at UNBC.
The large number of students receiving scholarships and bursaries has
precipitated the need to split the ceremony into two events: students
in the arts, social, and health sciences will be receiving awards tonight,
while students majoring in the sciences and business will be recognized
next Tuesday. Both events start at 7pm and will be held in the Canfor
Theatre.
This year, students are receiving nearly 500 awards worth more than
$900,000. The number of awards is up about 30% over last year, while
the dollar value is up 66%. Many of the awards are created from the
generosity of individuals, corporations, and other institutions and
agencies.
