New Appointments to Guide World-Class Forestry Research Programs

April 11, 2000, Media Advisory

On Friday, April 14, 2000, the University of Northern British Columbia will be hosting a media event on campus to introduce the newly appointed researchers who will develop significant research programs on forest growth and yield and mixedwood ecology.

Forest Renewal BC, Slocan, and West Fraser Timber have invested millions into endowment funds that will support the research because of its strategic importance to the forest industry and its long-term sustainability. At the news conference, government, industry, and University representatives will outline the research priorities.

The event will be held in the I.K. Barber Enhanced Forestry Laboratory. Media can drive to the lab on an access road that is located between the Forestry Lab and the student residences. The access is likely to be quite muddy so I recommend you drive right to the Lab, rather than parking in the main UNBC parking lots and walking. Parking is available right at the Forestry Lab.

The news conference is scheduled to begin at 1:30pm
