Methanex Creates UNBC Scholarship

Methanex Corporation is creating a $3000 annual scholarship that will be awarded to students from the northwestern part of BC who are pursuing a degree in Chemistry or Environmental Studies at the University of Northern BC. Preference will be given to students from Kitimat, where Methanex operates a methanol and ammonia plant.
UNBC President Charles Jago will be in Kitimat on Friday, July 11th, to officially accept the contribution. A number of UNBC students will be on hand for the event, including students who are currently working for Methanex over the summer. In fact, President Jago will be taken on a tour of the plant by UNBC student Suzy Barcelos, who is expected to complete a degree in Business Administration next year. The tour will begin at 11am.
