Methanex Creates UNBC Scholarship

Methanex Corporation is creating a $3000 annual scholarship that will be awarded to students from the northwestern part of BC who are pursuing a degree in Chemistry or Environmental Studies at the University of Northern BC. Preference will be given to students from Kitimat, where Methanex operates a methanol and ammonia plant.
Methanex Corporation is creating a $3000 annual scholarship that will be awarded to students from the northwestern part of BC who are pursuing a degree in Chemistry or Environmental Studies at the University of Northern BC. Preference will be given to students from Kitimat, where Methanex operates a methanol and ammonia plant.
UNBC President Charles Jago will be in Kitimat on
Friday, July 11th, to officially accept the contribution.
A number of UNBC students will be on hand for the event,
including students who are currently working for Methanex
over the summer. In fact, President Jago will be taken on
a tour of the plant by UNBC student Suzy Barcelos, who is
expected to complete a degree in Business Administration
next year. The tour will begin at 11am.
The media are welcome to attend the official
announcement of the new scholarship at noon in the
Methanex boardroom.
