Sessional Instructors for Winter 2021

Lauren Phillips will be returning winter 2021 to again teach ORTM 202 Eco and Adventure Tourism. Lauren is a board member for Tourism Prince George, and the owner of OVERhang Education Centre and Climbing Gym in Prince George.  She instructs wilderness first aid, river safety, wildland rope rescue, as well as wilderness survival skills, and takes people on outdoor rock climbing adventures. Lauren has been involved with ORTM as a sessional instructor for a number of years.​"

Recent (Fall 2020) Sessional Instructors

Dr. Karine Pigeon, spatial ecologist will be co-teaching ORTM 300 Recreation and Tourism Impacts with Pam. Karine is a postdoctoral fellow leading a project with Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Inc. and UNBC to examine the impacts of dispersed recreation on wildlife in the y2y corridor. Karine lives in Canmore, AB.

Dr. Kelly Whitney Gould, resident of Haida Gwaii, will be teaching ORTM 403 International Tourism this fall. Kelly studies and works to help communities, particularly Indigenous communities develop tourism that is based on their needs and interests. She has undertaken a number of projects where tourism is a tool to help communities engage in language revitalization. Kelly has previously taught as a sessional instructor with ORTM.

Brenda Parks is Safety Services Coordinator with Raven Rescue in Smithers, BC. Brenda is returning to ORTM as a sessional instructor after a few years absence. This fall she will be teaching ORTM 205 Outdoor Skills and Leadership in an online form. Brenda works in outdoor risk management and previously owned her own women's adventure guiding company.
