Created in 2006, and having established a record of excellence, the program is unique in BC is an essential component of UNBC's expanding emphasis on the health and human sciences.
Studying with researchers in these diverse health disciplines allows students access to ideas and techniques that will be eventually incorporated into best practices. It is very exciting to be a part of a team that influences how the health sciences are applied, from research, to clinical practice to the community level. Our Faculty are recipients of teaching and research excellence awards.
Honours Program
An optional Bachelor of Health Sciences Honours program will assist in the acquisition of skills and experience that will facilitate applying to medical school and to graduate programs including our Master of Science in Health Sciences, Master of Arts in Disability Management, or the PhD in Health Sciences.
Admission to the honours program takes place after the end of the third year (i.e., upon completion of 90 credit hours) and requires a minimum CGPA of 3.33 over the most recent 30 credit hours, or permission of the School Chair. Consultation with Student Advising is highly recommended before applying. Attaining the minimum requirement does not guarantee admission to the honours program, which is at the discretion of the School Chair. To remain in the honours program, students must maintain a minimum SGPA of 3.33. All honours students complete a thesis project (HHSC 490-6 Honours Thesis) under the direct supervision of a faculty member.
